Young job seekers meet 40+ local employers at SummerWorks job fair

On Saturday, over 175 job seekers age 16-21 and over 40 local employers attended SummerWorks' 2018 Employment Expo at the Louisville Central Community Center. The young job seekers had the chance to talk to organizations like UPS, Omni Hotel Louisville, Thorntons, Kentucky Kingdom, and Jefferson Memorial Forest about their full-time and part-time summer job openings.

SummerWorks is helping me start my adulthood. I’m able to save money and go to college. I’m hoping to be able to pay for this next semester by myself.
— Samantha Turpin, job seeker

In addition to the job fair, the Employment Expo also included a "Get Ready, Get Hired" workshop designed to prepare SummerWorks participants for success in their job search. Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer, who created the SummerWorks program 8 years ago, even stopped by for a few minutes to chat with the job seekers and provide support.

If you missed the event but would still like to sign-up for SummerWorks 2018, don't worry - there's still time!
